The Mindfulness Based Living Course (MBLC) is a weekly online mindfulness course. It is an 8-week course consisting of eight classes, which are two hours long, preceded by an introductory class before the eight week course begins and concluded by a follow-up class after the eight week course ends. A day of mindfulness practice is also typically included around weeks 6 and 7.
The weekly themes are:
13th May: Introductory Session – What is Mindfulness and Why Practice It?
20th May: Week 1 – Start Where We Are
27th May: Week 2 – The Body as a Place to Stay Present
3rd Jun: Week 3 – Introducing Mindfulness Support
10th Jun: Week 4 – Working with Distraction
17th Jun: Week 5 – Exploring the Undercurrent
24th Jun: Week 6 – Attitude of the Observer
29th Jun: Day of Practice
1st July: Week 7 – Self-acceptance
8th July: Week 8 – A Mindfulness Based Life
12th Aug: Follow Up – The Rest of Your Life
The course takes place online, on Monday evenings from 7-9pm, via zoom. It is important in considering the online course that you consider where you will locate yourself for the duration of the sessions: preferably in a quiet place where you will not be disturbed. The Zoom room will be opened at 6:50pm to allow for participants to “arrive” and for the group to get settled: to prepare for each session, you will need to ensure you have everything you need to hand at the session start.
Group learning is a very important aspect of the course, as is the commitment and contributions of each participant in the group. By signing up to this course, you will also be making the commitment to attending each course session and to developing your own practice by setting aside approximately 40 minutes each day to home practice – essentially it is your practice and you get out what you put in, as they say!
Cost: The cost for the course is £230 and includes the sessions; course manual; customized Mindfulness Journal; and access to recordings of all the practices. The Practice Day is priced separately at £30.
